Many mattresses are not quite the size that may be printed
on the box when it’s purchased. In fact, we have found several brands of
mattresses can vary from the stated size up to 2 inches! 2 inches can make a
huge difference in the fit of your sheets.
We encourage all our customers to follow this guide and measure their
mattress to be sure they order the correct size.
Measuring your mattress for a new set of sheets may not be
as easy as you think. Many mattresses have seams or cording on the edges that seem
a natural place to measure between. Unfortunately, this is often not the case
as the seams do not account for any poof or bulging that your mattress may have
across the top or on the sides. It is important to make sure that you measure
the entire width, length and depth of the mattress. We have a few steps listed
below to help you.
Items you will need:
Tape measure
2 Hard flat objects such as a ruler or thin book
Partner to measure with
Keep all items on the mattress that will go under your
sheets
1. Measure the width of your mattress.
a.
You and your partner stand on either side of
your bed.
b.
Each person place your object flat against the
side of your mattress near the middle
c.
Using the measuring tape measure the distance
between the two.
2. Measure the length of your mattress.
a.
You and your partner stand on either side of
your bed, at the head and foot.
b.
The person at the foot places their object flat
against the side mattress near the center. If you have a head board push the
mattress square against it and use it as your second flat object
c.
Using the measuring tape measure the distance
between the two.
3. Measure the Depth of your mattress.
a.
Place your object flat on top of your mattress
near the center, and have it overhang the edge an inch or two.
b.
Using the
measuring tape measure the distance between the top of the box spring or
platform to the object. This will make sure you
get the entire depth of the mattress. (If needed go ahead and slide a thin
stiff object between the mattress and platform for easier measuring)
Once you have each of the three measurements you can
determine what the correct size of sheets are for you. If your mattress doesn’t
fit into the standard sizes listed on our website feel free to give us a call
or send us an email and we can custom make a set just to fit your unique bed!
